Laser Plus Becomes First PA Business to Receive Green Recognition

The Institute for Sustainable Development is proud to announce that Laser Plus has become the first Pennsylvania business to receive the Green Plus certification.

The Institute, working in conjunction with local Chambers of Commerce and other trade organizations, grants Green Plus certification to those companies that have completed a rigorous evaluation process. This certification recognizes sustainability based on three overarching aspects of an organization: strong business performance, a commitment to the community, and care for the environment.

Green Plus™ North American Sustainable Enterprise Awards Nominees Announced

The Institute for Sustainable Development announced its 2010 Green Plus™ North American Sustainable Enterprise (NASE) Nominees. The awards are designed to recognize smaller enterprises in a variety of sectors for the example they have set in advancing triple-bottom-line sustainability. Winners will be announced Friday, June 18, 2010, at the North Carolina Research Triangle Park.

“The Green Plus Awards are designed to recognize American smaller enterprises that are using sustainable practices to not only to improve their own bottom lines but also to strengthen their communities,” said Chris Carmody, Executive Director of the Institute for Sustainable Development.

The awards, presented by GlaxoSmithKline, bring together academic, business, and philanthropic leaders from around the country to recognize organizations in the following categories: Sustainable Enterprise, Sole Proprietor, Non-Profit, Small Business (5-50 employees), Medium Sized Business (+51 employees) -- and the Green Plus™ People’s Choice award, decided by popular vote.

Presented by Wells Fargo, the Green Plus™ Small Business of the Year finalists include: Dos Perros Restaurant (Durham, NC), Environmental Solutions Group (Greensboro, NC), Irregardless Café & Catering (Raleigh, NC), Laser Plus (Lancaster, PA), and Riley Life Industries (Durham, NC).
