Mennonite Central Committee Food Drive
Laser Plus continues to be involved in food collection and is presently partnered with Leola Ambulance and the Mennonite Central Committee. Donations can be made at Laser Plus, 1002 North Prince Street in Lancaster during business hours; or any time at Leola Ambulance Association, 143 W. Main Street in Leola. (If no one is there, donations may be left at the small door to the left of the front door for delivery.) Thank you all for your generosity! If you’d like more information, please call us at 717-397-1377.
Council of Churches Food Drive
Laser Plus, in coordination with the Leola Ambulance Association in Upper Leacock Township, held a food drive for the Lancaster County Council of Churches for several months. Laser Plus tech extraordinaire, Gary Loughman, who is also an active EMT, thought the project would be a great way to pull together to serve the community. We have had a wonderful response as people showed their community support by sharing what they had. One gentleman stopped by and explained that he had gone to buy the side of beef that he buys every year to have in his freezer. Upon finding some ‘extra’ money in his pocket, he bought the other half for the Food Bank and personally delivered it!
For more information on food donations, please call us at 717-397-1377.
Phoenix Academy
Laser Plus is particularly proud of the Computer Room donated in 2005 to the Phoenix Academy. The Academy is an alternative school for students who, for any number of reasons including pregnancy, family crisis and learning challenges, are academically behind their peers. The room was designed and installed by Laser Plus technicians with funding donated by friends and associates. The students had access to only two computers when Laser Plus was informed of their need. Laser Plus installed 20 full work stations and donated a networked printer.
Adopt-A-Highway
Mark Ebbert, VP, started Adopt-A-Highway in Valley Grove, WV. “It is time consuming and takes a good bit of effort to set up and keep going. You need to get at least 8-10 volunteers two times a year to do the cleanup.” In addition, Mark chaired the Adopt-A-Highway program for 3 years for the Wheeling Rotary Club.
Cue up for Charity
Hugo Nazario, Laser Plus’ lead service tech, has a passion for playing pool. He plays in a league that donates all proceeds from tournament nights to various charities. Most recently, funds were raised for Schreiber Pediatric. To find out more and learn when the next tournament is – follow us on twitter.
Emergency Medical Technician
Gary Loughman has been an Emergency Medical Responder for over 15 years. “At the time I became an EMT I was working at a business where what I did made no meaningful difference in anyone’s life. Since starting to volunteer, I have logged over 15,000 volunteer hours on duty. I’ve seen stuff I loved and some incidents I wish I could forget. Saving a life during a crisis, giving a Dad a chance to walk his daughter down the aisle or let a Grandmother get one more hug from all her grandkids means something to me.”

Locks of Love
Gary is presently sporting long flowing locks as he grows his hair for Locks of Love. Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under the age of 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss. We support Gary’s efforts and hope you enjoy our resident free spirit should he show up to work on your printer.
